about

Live and improvised, nothing planned, nothing edited.
Recorded between Oct - Nov 2018

Inspired by the tape splicing masterpieces Teo Macero successfully achieved with Miles Davis’ work (albums such as In A Silent Way.) The aim for these live sets is to explore real time tape slicing, intricately melding jazz and techno using a granular sampler. The approach offers glimpses of jittering samples taken from previous work. The idea is to keep sculpting the boundaries of jazz and techno until the two worlds finally feel truly comfortable together.

The sets are all fully improvised, with only an initial idea to work from. There is no editing post production except for a little mastering simply used to allow the music to sit comfortably alongside other work.

These are the initial attempts, the journey will continue, and will be an interesting one, stay locked and we’ll see where it goes.
